The Carolinas’ Nature Photographers Association is committed to serving the needs of nature photographers in the Carolinas and throughout the United States. The CNPA has been in existence since 1992 when a small group of photographers recognized the potential benefits of forming a group dedicated to nature photography. From that meager beginning CNPA has grown to become one of the largest “photo clubs” of its kind in the country. Our membership is organized into 13 regional groups, providing opportunities for photographers to join together each month for meetings and outings in their local area. Members are also welcome to participate in the activities of other regions.

CNPA Mission Statement

  • To promote Nature Photography in the Carolinas.
  • To help conserve and preserve the diverse Natural Ecosystem in the Carolinas.
  • To educate others interested in Nature Photography.

Getting to Know Us

Interested in nature photography? So are we. Here are ways to learn more about CNPA and participate. 

  • Check out our Facebook group! Anyone can view but you must be a CNPA member to contribute, upload images, and comment. 
  • Participate in a meeting or club activity. We have 13 separate regions throughout North and South Carolina. View our Regions page to learn when and where each group meets - and visit our events calendar to find scheduled outings. As a CNPA member, you may participate in any region's events!
  • Members receive our award-winning magazine, Camera in the Wild, three times each year at no cost.  Each edition is filled with informative articles submitted by CNPA members. You can also access digital versions of the magazine online.

Regions

Contests

Members Choice: A much anticipated feature of our convention is the Members Choice Contest. Members submit digital images which are judged by the entire CNPA membership. Click to View 2026 Winners

Quarterly Contests: Each quarter, regions have the option to hold a photo contest where region members submit two entries and then vote for the winners, using the same software as the member's choice contest.
