Sylvan Heights Bird Park (http://www.shwpark.com/) has on display more than 2,000 waterfowl, parrots, toucans, flamingos, and other exotic birds from around the world. The 18-acre facility features spacious, walk-through aviaries displaying birds from South America, North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. The aviaries are surrounded by tranquil gardens and lush natural areas, which enhance the beauty of the birds on exhibit and immerse visitors in native North Carolina wildlife habitat.
Standard admission is $11; for those 62-plus, it’s $10. Members of the N.C. Zoo and some other organizations can get in free.
There’ll be a midday lunch gathering, but participants can return to the park if they desire.
Meet in the parking lot.
