Images of the Congaree National Park

In 2005, CNPA in conjunction with the Friends of Congaree Swamp produced a 64 page full-color book of images taken in the Congaree National Park, America’s newest national park. A two-year effort, the book has over 100 color images that illustrate the diversity and beauty of the park. CNPA maintains the copyright of the book and distributes the book to several outlets throughout South Carolina, including the Harry Hampton Visitor Center at the park.

Sewee Visitor and Environmental Education Center

Located in Awendaw, South Carolina, the Sewee Center was formed to support the mission of the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge as a cooperating association under an agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The center conducts educational programs for grade-school students which includes an impressive nature display. CNPA help them with this display by donating four 72″ x 90″ permanent boards depicting nature images of the coast. To find out more, visit the Sewee Center on the web.

Within These Hills

In 2003 we launched our first eco-exhibit, a collection of 104 images of the southern Appalachians contributed by 27 of our members. The exhibit traveled to many locations within the two-state area conveying important environmental messages in the text board and free literature from 18 local and national environmental groups that enhanced the awareness of the need to protect and conserve our natural heritage. This project was recognized in Nature’s Best Magazine and was exhibited at the 2005 North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) Summit.

Sand Hills and Sea Shores

In 2005, we launched our second eco-exhibit, images of the sandhills and coastal areas of the Carolinas. We had over 40 members submit 260 images, of which 100 were selected for the exhibit. We kicked off the exhibit at the Wildlife Expo in Charleston and after two years of exhibiting the project was retired.

As future projects are developed we will be using blog posts to inform the members and public.

Annual Meeting registration and Members Choice submissions begins October 1 at 8 AM.
