I am going to be in the Columbia area off and on during July. I would appreciate any information about good photography locations in the Midlands area.
Thanks in advance,
Nathanael

July is kind of a rough time to find good things to shoot around here, but here are some suggestions:
Congaree National Park --> swamp scenes and really big trees, if water is up may find some snakes, if it has recently rained you will find mushrooms
Columbia Zoo and Botanical Gardens --> Most animal enclosures are not barred so you can get some nice shots
Riverfront park --> the feeding frenzy will be over, but one of our members gets all sorts of interesting images year round.

The things you will need in Columbia in July or August: plenty of water, a hat, sunglasses and bug spray! But I agree with the suggestions Lisel offered. In addition, if you are willing to shoot some historic buildings, our State House offers some good shots and there is some great architecture around downtown. The River Front Park/Columbia Canal is a great walking trail and based on the shots you have posted in your gallery, you will find plenty to shoot. Send me an email as time gets closer and you know some specific dates and I'll send you information on upcoming events.
