Hi All

I am looking for a publication that can take me past the Nikon Manual and be a bit more reader friendly. I purchased "The PIP Expanded Guide" which I found lacking as far as the more sophisticated features of this camera are concerned (i.e., the banks) . My experience with David Bush Guides are they are too basic. Since I have been shooting for the past 40 years, I'm not looking for a book on basic photography techniques which seem to be incorporated in these manuals.

Can anyone suggest a book that can take me past the basics on the D200 (without being a NASA scientist).

Thanks in advance, hope to see you in Charleston.

I've got a buddy that swears by these DVDs: http://www.elitevideo.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=606

He's bought them for the last two Nikons that he has owned, with the last one being the D200. Another one of his buddies has bought them too and liked them.

He likes that he can WATCH what to do on the camera while doing it on his at the same time - with the ability to replay each section if needed...

I don't have any experience with them, but thought I would pass it on.

I highly reccomend the guides produced by Thom Hogan; I'm currently waiting for him to finish and publish the D3 guide. The guide is on CD and are they exhaustive. The CD allows for printing a copy at Kinko's , etc. I don't remeber exactly, but I think it's around 400 pages long.

This is the link to the site http://www.bythom.com

The guides are listed on the right-hand side of the Nikon page.

Hope this helps,

Mike

I would second Mike's posts on Thom Hogan's D200 guide. Its by far the best of the lot that's out there. He also has a site just for the errata and keeps the guides updated on a regular basis.

The other one I would recommend is the one by Ken Rockwell. You would have to goto www.kenrockwell.com and search for it on there, :)...lol..yes, though the guy writes some fantastic stuff, its like hunting for treasure when you want to find some information on his site.

Hope this helps!
