Does anyone have suggestions for a wireless shutter release? I'm using a Nikon D80.

Thanks for the help.

I have a shutter release, but not wireless, as I was told I would need to be more in front of the camera to use a wireless shutter release.

Is this true?

I think for the most part that you do need to be in direct line of site. I was told by a camera rep that the D80 does a little better than some cameras and it will work off to the side. He also said some people use mirrors in front of the camera to get around not being in front.

I have a Seculine wireless shutter release for the Nikon D200.

Here's the link to the product for the D80 from B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/536952-REG/Zigview_R3_UTN_Seculine_Twin_1_R3_UTN.html.
I believe they are close for holidays from the 18th of April through.....can't remember till when. I am quite pleased with the one for the D200 and it does offer quite a good range of operation. The good thing I like about this shutter release is the fact that the receiver part can plug directly into my 10-pin connector on the camera body without the need for any other cable.

One of the features that's not really obvious from the photo is that the receiver can swivel around by 180 degrees (the "bulb" portion that's facing up can swivel around by 180 degrees in the clockwise direction). So even if you are behind the camera you can still activate the shutter release because the "bulb" part of the receiver is in clear view when its in the position as shown in the picture. When you are not using the shutter release, you can turn it off to save battery which for me is important as a user.

Hope this helps!
