Just a heads up to the Charlotte folks. The Cedar Waxwings are passing through. This morning I came across a flock of them. They were feasting on a tree in the Hamilton Lakes housing area on the southwest side of town. (For those living near Lake Wylie--take 160 toward SC, turn left on Hamilton, right on Superior, the trees were located at the end of the road.)

Have a great day!

They are the neatest birds. They are also here in the Myrtle Beach/Garden City area. I am headed to Brookgreen tomorrow to see if I can get a few shots of them. Thanks for sharing!

If you can find them in small trees, try walking up on them fairly close. When they are feeding they pretty much ignore you and allow you to get very close.

The problem I was having was that they wouldn't let the mockingbird get close. He kept chasing them off. Either he had a nest or he felt he owned those trees. I wanted to yank a knot in that mockingbird's tail. The waxwings did let me get close. I just wasn't faster than the mockingbird to get any good shots of them. The waxwings were also sharing the trees with a flock of robins.

Have a great day!

These are such beautiful birds and awesome that you should run across such a nice size group of them. Thank you so much for sharing, Dawnita! :)DJGD
