Reedy Creek Nature Preserve Photo Contest
When: February 14 - April 1, 2008
Photo Exhibit on May 24, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Reedy Creek Nature Preserve
How: Submit photos in person or by mail to Reedy Creek Nature Center, 2900 Rocky River Road, Charlotte, NC 28215
All ages are allowed to participate
The theme for our first contest is "Reedy Creek Nature Preserve is a special place". Your pictures must be taken inside Reedy Creek Nature Preserve and can be of wildlife, landscapes, or portraits of people enjoying the preserve. Note that once you turn in to the park from Rocky River, that area is the open-use park and once you get to the stop sign and turn right, you enter the preserve.
Reedy Creek Nature Preserve Rules & Information
All participants must register by calling 704-336-7600 with barcode 31145.
Contest entries will be judged separately according to age.
Photographs must be taken at Reedy Creek Nature Preserve. There is no limit to the number of entries per participant.
Black and white and color prints will be judged together.
Photo size must be 5 x 7 inches or larger.
All prints must be matted with white or black matte board (stop by the nature center to see an example). Matte size must not exceed 16 x 22 inches.
A completed entry label must be taped to the back of each entry. The photographers name or title must not appear on the front side. (See below for entry label.)
Reedy Creek Nature Preserve reserves the right to refuse inappropriate or unsuitable entries.
Judging will be done by qualified persons not affiliated with Reedy Creek Nature Preserve.
First, second and third place will be awarded, as well as a Best of Show. Honorable Mentions will be awarded at the judges’ discretion.
All entries become the property of Reedy Creek Nature Preserve and Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation and may be used in promotions or exhibits.
Winning photographs may be reproduced in Park and Recreation’s web page and other park and recreation or nature center publications with proper credit given to the photographer.
Photographs will be judged on: Composition, General Appeal, Technical Merit and Appropriateness to Theme. (“Reedy Creek Nature Preserve is a Special Place.”)
Reedy Creek Nature Center staff will resolve all first place ties.
Entry Deadline is April 1, 2008 5:00 pm to: Reedy Creek Nature Center, 2900 Rocky River Road, Charlotte, NC 28215 and will be displayed May 24 at Reedy Creek Nature Center from 9-5pm.
