In a previous post rhunter58 (also know as Bob) asked if I did panning shots in burst mode. I have a 1DMkIIn which shoots 8.5 fps so of course I use that speed to capture flight shots. I think this images is one of my best examples although it's not that great a shot. This was the first sequence of the day and I forgot  to change the settings from the previous day and shot this flight sequence at 1/30 sec shutter speed. Of 6 or so shots this was the only kinda sharp image, I just happened to be panning to match the speed of the subject. Notice the blurred BG.

Edit: BTW, I realize this is a Great Egret and not a Snowy, old age and late evening post, my only excuse.

The background is actually very different and pleasing. The egret is quite sharp - really amazingly so and of course would have been, I think, quite blurry if you had not been panning. Thank goodness I never have forgotten to change my settings - NOT since last week! sisu

Might have gussed you'd tried all the bells and whistles---Good pan to get that good and image at 1/30. The blured BG draws the eye right to the bird--Nice

Great panning example. Looks like you got the exposure pretty well!
