The Whooping Cranes are back. Hopefully, they won't get shot like 3 of them last year.
Anyway, here's the newspaper article from The Post and Courier:

I think we would need to be really, really quiet and not try to get close, but
a 500mm would probably work?

What part of the season are they there? My wife and I are going mid March.

Dave.

I don't know when they move on. Since we are having an early Spring,
they may not be there.
When you get there, ask a ranger...they should know.
Good luck!

Was there last Sunday ie 27 February and saw no whooping cranes but there were about 200 Tundra Swans on Mary's Pond. Wild shooting in the fog. I understand the swans are likely to move on very soon.

The wife and I will be there the week of March 12-19. Hope there are still some winter migrants there. I'll be sure to report back.
