Mabry Mill and Blue Ridge Photo Tour

March 8th, 2008

We will meet at 7:00 a.m. in front of Stein Mart Department Store just off of I77 in Cornelius.

For those of you coming North on I77 take Exit 28 and turn left over I77 and then take your first right at the light and then turn left into the parking lot. NOTE:-there is a McDonalds and also a coffee shop if you want some refreshments.

We will then carpool and travel north on I77 to Exit 8 in VA and then go right, right, right and left up onto the Blue Ridge traveling North. Mabry Mill will be reached in 23 miles and be on your right side of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is a real scenic spot. Make sure that you see all of the exhibits around the Mill itself and photograph the Mill from all angles. You will see opportunities for wide angle as well as standard and telephoto lenses.

Around 11:30 a.m. we will go three miles further north on the Blue Ridge and break up into small groups for lunch at Chateau Morrisette. The Chateau features gourmet entrees in the $14.00 to $20.00 range or you may decide to bring your own lunch. You will also be able to visit the Winery for wine tasting and purchases.

Weather permitting we will then travel on the Blue Ridge another three or four miles and stop at Rocky Top overlook.

We will then backtrack and take Route 58 towards Mount Airy N.C. so that you will be able to photograph some of the scenes that are so much a part of N.C. history and made famous by Andy Griffith as part of the Town of Mayberry.

Please call Russ Gavitt with your Cell Phone # and EMAIL address if you are planning to attend.

His Phone Numbers are HOME 704-896-5523 or Cell Phone 704-904-6288.

Note: WE WILL HAVE TO CANCEL THIS TRIP SHOULD WE BE FACED WITH A WINTER STORM SO WE DO NEED YOUR PHONE NUMBERS.
