New member and first post.
I liked this picture because of the contrasting colors in the driftwood. Also, it was taken on my second outing using my new canon 100-400 VR lens, and I was pleased with the sharpness as compared with my old tokina 400 fixed. The original image also included the birds reflection, but cropping that out seemed to produce a better composition.

Nice shot, a well exposed image with an interesting composition. Great first post.

Like the image a lot. Wonder if he or she snagged a small fish? Please keep the posts coming.

Ohh, you have crossed the dreaded Canon/Nikon line in your post! :) It is a 100-400L IS or image stabilized! Only those poor Nikon folks are being held back with the VR for Vibration Reduction!

Good exposure control, keep up the good work!

Great photo! I love the colors. This is one of my favorite spots to photograph birds. ( I really mean this spot, the stump) You can get some interesting reflections in the water!

Great work and keep them coming!!

Mark,
You are so right. It is the 100-400 IS not VR. Never really paid any attention to the fact that they are trademarked descriptions of their respective companies.

And, thank you and everyone else for the nice comments.

Let me join the chorus, an excellent capture in all respects. Subject matter, composition, exposure, everything spot on...I like it even without the reflection.
