The cedar waxwings will be coming though the area soon, just reviewing some of last year's shots to get the juices pumping. Here is one I like and will be trying to improve upon this year. I like this one because you can see the red waxy tips that they are named after.

Shot with a 1DMkIIn, 500 mm IS, tripod in the parking lot of a grocery store.

Comments/critique welcomed.

Great shot and love the berry speared on the lower part of beak. Were you able to get this as a vertical? or can it be cropped as a vertical. Regardless I love it. Lovely light, detail. Wish I knew a spot around here where there was some berries and where the cedar waxwings come in. Saw them in mass one time on a tree as I was passing a Bojangles! No berrries there. Beautiful:)

This is a crop of the original image, I tried the vertical and horizontal and settled on the horizontal. The crop was necessary to remove some distracting limbs.

Great shot and great "moment". Caught him/her just at the right time and the blue sky background is just wonderful.

Just a beautiful shot. I do not see any way to make it better.
