Hey guys, I just wrote a new article and put it up on my web site. It is called "Making the Light Sing and Dance!, Using High Tech Flashlights in Macro Photography." Click here (http://www.appalachianjourney.com/page13/index.html) to check it out.

Thanks for sharing Les. I have always enjoyed your macro photography. The tips about using flashlights in macro will make a great edition to my camera bag. I would much rather use the flashlight than a reflector. They're smaller and I don't have to wait for the sun to pop out on a cloudy day. It's also cheaper than a ring flash!

Thanks,

Sean

Thank you Kim and Sean for the kind words. I am working on a series of photography articles for my web sites. I am working on the craft part first, tools and techniques, and later I will work on the art part, the seeing and feeling. I am currently working on my newest passion, wide-angle macro. This is where you put a Canon 500D on your extreme wide angle zoom, 10-22, 12-24, 17-35, etc. The results can be quite amazing. I already have a few of these on my web site but I hope to have many more after the spring season.

Please let me know your experiences with the macro photo flashlights.

The Asheville region is so lucky to have had Les's guidance with our photos.
My macro and intimate landscapes have really improved with his group
instruction to crop out any distracting elements and background in photos to
make a more powerful image. Now he is teaching about light. We need that.
Every photo junkie and camera jockey in Asheville who has heard Les speak
has benefited in some way. My old albums of "Prize Photos" have become
"Evolution Photos- Dawn of Evolution Photos" compared to ones I have
made since listening to Les. So when Les tosses a tid-bit of knowlege out on
the forums, website, or in workshops pay attention. It is valuable.

Les, You've done it again! What a beautifully written article. I have worked with you and you showed me the flashlight in the field, but I really didn't quite grasp it. Now I get how to do it, why to do it and when to do it much better. Thanks for sharing. Hmmm, I guess I also have added an item to my birthday wish list!
