Looks like Canon is going to introduce the predecessor to the 50D soon. I thought the 7D filled that spot but, evidently not! The moveable LCD (ala Olympus and others) is something I'd love to have.

That would be the successor to the 50D as opposed to the predecessor, right? :D
It's a little puzzling that they would introduce a camera that is in between the T2i and the 7D that except for the screen, upgraded video and a bunch of gee-whiz in-camera develop settings isn't significantly different from either of them. I guess there's some meaningful improvement for those who care about video and I'm sure there's a target market for the other stuff, but there's not much there to get me excited. I like the idea of the swivel screen but that's not enough to make me want one, and if I want 18 megapixels I'll buy a 7D and get a metal body and weather sealing for another $400.
I think I'll hang on to my money and wait for that 8-15 fisheye zoom. Now THAT's interesting!

Well, yeah...but I meant they were going backwards! Arrrrgggghhhhh...that was weak;) . You are, of course, correct.
I agree, that fisheye would be a blast to play with.

I agree, the 60D looks like a good camera but I dont see enough to make me switch from my 40D.
Any word on an upgrade to the 7D?

7D is over a year old now...time for a replacement around January. Worth the wait wait. Maybe for once they will listen to everyone complaining that there are too many pixels in it and reduce the # by a couple of million...like they did with the G-series. That body with around a 12 million pixel sensor in it with the new processors and noise capabilities would be a darned nice body. The flip LCD from the 60D would be nice too for MACRO and candid work. And of course make sure the latest video is in it too.
