I really don't like taking my laptop when I fly, so I'm looking for a portable storage device like the Epson P-5000 Multimedia Storage Viewer or the Jobo Spectator. Does anyone have opinions/recommendations for either of these or a similar product?

I just returned from Africa a few weeks ago and I took along with me an Epson 3000, a GigaVu Pro Evolution and a borrowed GigaVu Spectator. They all worked like a charm with no hiccups or problems. All of their chargers were universal voltage chargers and I had no problems. In fact, the hotel in Pretoria (Sheraton) already had adapters installed in the rooms so while there didn't even have to open my pack of adapters. The Spectator was the slowest of the bunch. One night I started downloading an 8gb card and went to dinner and came back and it was still generating thumbnails. The Epson and the GigaVu Evolution are fairly equivalent and I like them both. I was not particularly enamored with the Spectator and would buy the Epson 5000 if I was in the market for another one. But they all do the job and are indeed better than lugging a laptop if all you want is backup storage.
