These spoonbills were at the Merrit Island Wildlife Refuge in late December. My problem is that I have a slow lens so most of my long telephoto shots are taken in brite sunlight. Would a flash with a Better Beamer help with the high contrast. The birds were about fifty feet away and very active. How would you set your flash for this situation?

Hey Paul , very nice shot. I love the action. A flash and Better Beamer would definitely reach the 50 ft and brighten the dark areas under the wings.

Cool action shot - especially for a slow lens...! I really like the top spoonbill.
Yes, some flash would help "git rid of" the shadows on the face/under wing...
What camera/flash/lens combo are you using?

Thanks for the comments. I was using a Nikon D200 with a Sigma 50-500 lens. No flash was used. :D
