I was fortunate enough in August 2007 to attend the NAPP Photoshop World Conference & Expo in Las Vegas. I would like to share one of the nice resources that I received as an attendee to the conference. We were issued a 904-page paperback book that contained session notes from most of the presentations. Below is a list of session titles with the presenter and the book-page numbers encompassed by that session.
This book is a good resource with regards to information, but the book quality is poor when it comes to binding and paper quality. So after a very short-time of my use the pages started falling out of the book. This led me to the idea that I could check-out orginal pages (not copies or duplicates) grouped as sessions to fellow CNPA members (much like a library would). Since I would be loaning you original hard copies (and at no charge for that matter), I don't think this infringes on any copyrights. I would also be asking those who borrowed them not to make copies as this is restricted by copyright laws.
My thought is that CNPA members could visit this thread during the month's time between CNPA-Charlotte monthly meetings (on the second Wednesday of each month or as otherwise re-scheduled) and reserve for checkout up to three sessions each month. They would make this reservation by posting to this forum-thread ... and they could reserve a first-choice, a second-choice, and a third-choice ... this would be on a "first-come first-served" basis ... but if someone else made a reservation for the same session with a higher choice number, then they could in effect "out bid" and earlier reservation ... or to put it another way - if you are the first thread-post reserving a particular session and it is your first-choice, then you'd be guaranteed to check it out ... I would compile these during the month and bring the appropriate session article/notes to the next month's meeting ... you would agree to bring any sessions checked out back to me at the following months meeting ... you would also agree to take care of these original books pages (returning them in my manila-envelope) in no worse condition than you received them (otherwise you would loose you checkout privledges) ... since all the pages are currently in perfect condition, then they should remain a such for everyone's viewing pleasure.
These checkouts are not restricted to CNPA Charlotte Region members. Instead you would just need to be a CNPA member, who came to two successive CNPA-Charlotte meetings.
The session titles are generally descriptive of the content. The book-page range will give you a general idea about the length of the article. The presenter (most a nationally known presenters, authors, and educators) noted will let you see who created the material ... you may already have a idea of presenters from whom you learn well.
The only other stipulation for those checking out articles would be that they followup with a thread-post here during that month-long checkout period with a brief evaluation of the article. This would be a way for you to "return the favor" by adding value to this process ... your quality evaluations might help others in making decisions about what to checkout.
