2010 Brevard Outing – Fall Colors and Waterfalls
Friday October 15 – Sunday October 17, 2010

Start off with dinner at Twin Dragons Chinese Buffet on Friday evening. We’re always sure to have a nice dinner.

Waterfalls Saturday morning, afternoon and sunset on the BRP. Sunrise and more waterfalls Sunday morning, fall color along 276 and sunset on the BRP Sunday afternoon/evening.

We’ll make a stop at Mountain Heart Photography Gallery in Cedar Mountain.

I’ve provided a list of optional places for anyone getting there early or staying past Sunday.

I just spoke with the Hampton Inn, and other than the five rooms remaining on my block they are just about sold out for our weekend. Only two of the five remaining rooms have king beds, the other three rooms have two doubles. If you are thinking about going I recommend making your reservation soon. The block expires on 9/15, and after that the rooms will be available to the general public. Fall is a very popular time in the mountains, rooms are scarce and are priced accordingly.

I will be at Wednesday night's meeting to give an update on the outing and to answer any questions you might have.

NOTE TO OTHERS: Kathy & I were in Brevard this past weekend and things are starting to get a little fall-like already. We happened to be at the Hampton Inn and noted that there is one room left under the block and the motel is just about fully booked. If you don't have your room yet be sure to get it reserved soon!

Amy Sturkey and I have decided to join everyone. We'll be staying over at the Roadway Inn. I'll drive up from Valdosta, GA on Friday and hopefully be able to make the Chinese buffet dinner. Amy will drive over from Charlotte after work on Friday. She doesn't usually leave work until about 6:30PM so I don't know if she'll make the buffet dinner by 8PM or not.

Hopefully, we'll see everyone at 8PM for the dinner.

We were on our own for most of the day but it turned out fine as we ran into Kevin Adams and you got your book signed.

Also hello to Lumpy, It will be good to finally get you to an outing. This has always been a good one as there is lots to shoot in the area and Tom Dills has done his research on when and where to be for some good photographs.

I've added the latest attendees and also received an e-mail from Charlie Calder of the Myrtle Beach chapter who is looking to join us. Looks like we're going to have a good group!

I'll be doing some final scouting this coming weekend and will have additional details and my famous map handout ready around the first of October. In the mean time those of you who don't have reservations should make them soon. Once the leaves start to turn you won't find a room anywhere. We saw hints of yellow last weekend and I expect to see more this weekend.

Hampton Inn website shows at least one room available under my block, although it has two double beds.

It looks like the leaves and the weather may cooperate for us this year. Getting good color reports from the Parkway and the weather report is forecasting cool and clear conditions. And we're certain to see some waterfalls regardless.

Yep, after spending Saturday with this crowd in Brevard, me and my husband, Rich, became members too. I was facinated by the people, the equipment and the beautiful photo opportunities. Thanks, David, for asking us to tag along! We had a wonderful time, and met some amazing people - thanks to those who made us feel welcome!

I've already posted some pictures in my gallery on here, and have really enjoyed looking at the other galleries. I am truly inspired!
