Robert, nice job on this handheld flight shot. Did you shoot this as a vertical? I think I would prefer a tighter crop, composed as a horizontal. As with my wood stork, too much unused space at the bottom of the frame. I love how you can see the light coming through the wing feathers and the open bill is a big plus.

Did you shoot this in NC?

No, I shot it as a horizontal, but cut the leading bird's beak off... I could mask the leading bird & have plenty of room for a different/horizontal crop.

No, I shot it in Virginia.

I agree with Robert, a horizontal format would work better with this shot. It would give room to fly or land as needed.

I also like the slight glow through the wings. Sometimes it is so hard to balance the exposure with the underside of a bird and the sky, this shot came out well.
