Located across from Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, SC. You can always find something here!

Right now we have started to see some winter residents, Red-Breasted Mergansers, Bufflehead, Hooded Mergansers, etc.

Best time for birding is usually early morning (at least that is what I have been told).

Happy shooting! Kim

I love that place. I think it is so neat to have a place like that so close to the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach (which I avoid like the plague).

The few times I have been there was without camera, but I did enjoy the environment.... and I didn't realize it was a decent duck place in the winter. Thanks for the tip.

I need to back up to Huntington Beach, it's always been a good place for a variety of water birds, ducks, wading birds, swans, and even the occasional wood stork.

And lately it seems I always just miss the eagle. There are several birders there and they always ask if I saw the eagle. So look close in the trees around the water because he is usually around. I have gotten a few pics earlier this year but not that great. So I know he frequents the causeway area!!

I will get to check out Huntington Beach State Park for the first time this Friday (Feb 1/08) afternoon. Any tips or suggestions? I will be on someone else's time schedule so I need to know what I want to do before I get there just in case I actually get a choice.

As far as any suggestions, earlier is better but I understand that you are on someone else's time schedule. The causeway is where most of the activity is- depending on the tide. I find that a few hours before and after low tide is the best time. Great place- have fun!
