Hi everyone,
Due to Chincoteague NWR having sustained significant damage from the nor'easter and currently being closed, we have decided to cancel the outing to Chincoteague. If you have made reservations at the Refuge Inn, they are waiving the 2 week cancellation policy for us and allowing us to cancel our reservations by 48 hours prior to arrival (example, if you have Friday reservation arrival, you should cancel by Wednesday afternoon to avoid charges). The Refuge Inn phone number is (757) 336-5511.
In lieu of Chincoteague, we have decided to have a Saturday, November 21st, outing to Lake Mattamuskeet NWR. We will meet at 6 a.m. just inside the entrance to the refuge. Sunrise is at 6:49 a.m.
In addition, if you are interested, at 9 a.m. the Mattamuskeet Decoy & Wildlife Festival begins.
