This was taken a 1/60 mm at 700 mm. I liked the softness with the somewhat passable eye. However there was something not right that spoiled it for me. In CS3 I made the correction that improved it :) but I need to work on my technique some more. This was the first time. It may obvious to you but let me know what you think the change was. Have fun!

You've stumped me. I can't figure out what the correction was. Maybe some effect to blurr the background more? The photo portrays a sense of motion, the blurred wings work for the photo but I wish the head was just a tad more in focus.
Dying to find out what you did. Let us know.

Hi Doug,
I'll take a wild stab at an answer. Having inside knowledge that you were out there taking Robert Amoruso's workshop on Quick Mask I would say there were additional birds or bird parts in the image that you removed.
How did I do???:)

I expanded the canvas 2 inches in front of crane and one inch below his feet. His feet were just right on the bottom edge. I did the bottom pretty good but in the lower right hand part I have to do better next time. This was my first time. Just like your stork Robert you can do it at the top and walha!:)

Now that you explain what you did I understand why you wanted to do it. It does improve the composition.
How did you do it, did you do it with the "Free Transform" function? Check out the Wood Stork, I use Free Transform to do the adding of space for that image.

The following is the same post I put on Robert's Wood Stork. It is valid here too. I know I have my share where the subject is almost out of the photo, this technique corrects that.
...."That is a good technique to know. Most folks have some shots almost going out of the photo. This could make them better. I will remember this!"

Good job, Doug. I looked & looked, but didn't figure it out. After I read your explanation, I can see some of the addition, but sure didn't notice at first.

Doug--I don't see what you mean about the right side--It looks fine to me. Looks like some more new vocabulary I need to learn!

It's a good photo. The blur shows the movement.
