Bonaparte's Gull - Lake Mattamuskeet, NC - action shot

A flock of these Bonaparte's gulls were feeding in the current by one of the bridges in the causeway at Lake Mattamuskeet, North Carolina. The light was in my favor & the birds were pretty cooperative. These are some of the smallest gulls in the eastern US.

Nikon D70, Nikkor 400 mm, f/5.6, 1/1600th second, ISO 200, handheld, cropped to ~50% of frame.

Great action shot. The detail is amazing and the action, well I guess that's a by-product of the feeding frenzy by the flock. :eek: The light here is wonderful, thanks for sharing.

Fitting.... a biological action for a biologist. Very very crisp shot for a flying bird.
