Taken in New Mexico with D2x 200-400 zoom. A little different perspective and trying a technique that Robert told me about to get better images when going from high to very low resolution images. Maybe I will post the image with the old technique that I used with which I was not happy at all. How does this look to you all?

Don, I think it's looks great. The detail pops on my monitor. The big question is what do you think, is it a better workflow?

You can post the same image with your old technique here in a reply so we can make the comparison.

Looks great.... really sharp, especially the outline of the bird. I hope you do post the other version... and tell us what you did to make the photo looks so good.

Here is the new technique I offered to Don:

1) Do all of your normal adjustments. Crop, layers, curves, etc. Do a single Unsharp Mask as the last step.

2) When you do your Save For Web save it at 1300 [not 750] on the longest side. Save this file where you want to post from using the normal file name you would use. I add cnpa to the end of the file name so I know it's for posting on CNPA.

3) Close the files down and open the image you just saved at 1300 pixels on longest side. Now do SHARPERN [not unsharp mask] _*twice*_. It will look way over sharpened. That's OK.

4) Now save for web at 750 on longest side and use the same file name so you have to replace the file. That way you don't have extra files you can't use. It should look very sharp.

Looks good! Looks like it has just taken off & is retracting the landing gear into flight position...

I like the technique Robert is sharing as well, especially for clean, simple images like this one.
