If anyone knows why black has red glitter on my monitor please advise me on how to correct it. The computer is just over a year old. This started in the summer. Restore does not correct it. Neither does adjusting screen resolution. I am afraid it may be a graphic card problem. Tech. support gives generic printed questions to answer. Can I fix this?

WOW, I wish I could help. Have you tried to calibrate the monitor? I would think the manufacturer would have a HELP line that might provide some guidance. Good Luck.

If your monitor in a newer LCD you may have some dead or stuck pixels. LCDs use red, green, and blue pixels to display the various colors. Some monitors, actually almost all monitors, end up with dead pixels (pixels that do not work at all) or stuck pixels (ones that will only display one color). If you do a search on the Internet for “Dead Pixel Software”, you should get several results for software that will help you determine if the problem is in your pixels.

The software will make your monitor change colors from solid red, green, or blue(RGB); if you have a stuck pixel, in your case they are stuck on red, when the screen turns green or blue the stuck pixels will still be red. Dead pixels will not even turn on and will remain black. Sometimes the pixel software program will allow you to set the color changes to auto so it rotates automatically between all the primary colors; when the screen changes colors multiple times, if you’re lucky the stuck pixels will start working again. Normally once they are stuck or they die that’s the end of their life. If your monitor is less then a year old it should be under warranty but many manufactures will not change out a monitor unless a certain percentage of pixels are dead or stuck as the vast majority of LCDs have some dead or stuck pixels even when shipped as new.

Thanks. HP did diagnostic. I had online chat with a tech. who acted like machine with glitch. I was instructed on how to install 3 drivers. One was for Vista. (I have XP) I had the other two already. Computer is over a yr. old. It is hard to edit photos. I will try your suggestions. Thanks.
