Hi,
I am new to CNPA and just started digiscoping. Does anybody else do any digiscoping or know of good areas for bird photography?
Thanks,
Joe

I digiscope all the time.
My favorite place is Magnolia Gardens Audubon Swamp near Charleston.
But, I go anywhere that there is a bird.
Beidler is hard with a scope, but a better beamer on an off the shoe flash
works good sometimes.
Post some of what you digiscope in the image critique forum.

Hi Joe,
I too have a digiscope but have yet to feel comfortable with it. Sparkle is the "master" as far as I'm concerned, she has really worked hard to learn the ins and outs of this process and gets some great shots. Maybe we need to ask her to let us tag along with her or lead a digiscoping outing for those of us who want to learn more???? No pressure, right Sparkle:D

I would be glad to help.
Clay Taylor, of Swarovski Optics , came down to instruct me for
a day when I was thinking about buying my scope. If not for that, I would still be lost.:)

That would be great to tag along or have a workshop.
Sparkle, what tripop and head do you use? I didn't want to get a new tripod and tried using my older Benbo trekker. It seems too light for my outfit. I would have liked a Swarovski but could not afford one. I bought a Nikon 82mm fieldscope, the Nikon 75x wide DS eyepiece and I already had the Nikon P5100. Also, if your tripod is very expensive if you could give an alternative that is a couple hundred dollars or less.
Thanks.

I'm shopping for a new tripod too.
I will let you know what I find out after talking to other members
about what they use.

Hello Sparkle and others interested in Digiscoping. For the last three years my wife and I have enjoyed attending the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival in Titusville, FL.
Clay Taylor with Swavorski lets attendees borrow his Scopes to use on both their compact and Digital SLR's and there is a contest during the Festival for the best Digiscoped Images.
We were fortunate to capture one of the awards this year.
Next years Festival will be January 27th-31st. Go to www.nbbd.com/fly for full Festival Details.
Each year the Festival draws over 900 attendees with excellent photo tours, kayak tours and adventure tours.
Sparkle if you feel that this would be of interest to our members maybe we can talk about co-hosting a trip for our CNPA members.
