Hello everyone!!
We would like to thank all those who attended the meeting last night. We had a great turnout despite the rainy weather. We had fifteen members and three guests in attendance. Our program consisted of a "show & tell" where members had an opportunity to share five of their images and talk about their images and photography. Twelve members shared their images and talked about their photographic style. Everybody enjoyed the program and the chance to see other member's photography and get to know each other better. More of this type of program will be held at future meetings.
A brief overview and slideshow of our last outing to Merchants Millpond State Park was given by those who attended the outing. Our June outing will be on June 13, 2009 at Norfolk Botanical Gardens. We will meet at 7:30am in the parking lot of the Food Lion in Grandy (Currituck County) to carpool and convoy to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. There is a $7.00 entrance fee per person or $6.00 per person if you have AAA. The gardens open at 9am. There will be opportunities to photograph flowers, eagles, scenics and butterflies. Lori Cash will send out an email with all the information on the outing to the OBX mail list.
Jim Castellow was selected to have one of his photos to be displayed as June's cover photo for the CNPA Outer Banks Region website.
Our two overnight outings to Portsmouth Island and Chincoteague were discussed. The Portsmouth Island/Ocracoke trip is scheduled for October 23-24. Bill Edmonds, Outings Coordinator, will talk with the boat Captain to determine costs and how many passengers can be ferried to and from Portsmouth Island. The Chincoteague trip is scheduled for Nov 20 and 21, 2009 and will coincide with the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge's Waterfowl Week in which the wildlife loop road will be open to vehicular traffic from 9am to dusk.
Our next meeting will be held on June 22, 2009 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Dare County Library in Kill Devil Hills. The program for our June's meeting will be a presentation by Lori A. Cash on Registering Your Images with the US Copyright Office. Emails announcing the next meeting to the OBX mail list will be sent shortly, and the OBX calendar will be updated on the CNPA website with info about June's outing and meeting.
