CAROLINA NATURE PHOTOGRAPHERS ASSOCIATION
MYRTLE BEACH REGION
OCTOBER 21,2007
The meeting was called to order by Co-coordinator Pat Schirtzinger. Introductions were made since there were several new members in the group.
Jim Braxmeier gave a Treasurer’s report and asked about the possibility of setting up a budget for our chapter so that we would have guidelines to follow when allocating money.
Mark announced that he still needed pictures of our members taking pictures for the postcard that he will design for us. They can be sent to his e-mail address Mark@the secretworld.net. Mark will arrange for the printing of the postcards which will be designed for multi use. A motion was made that Mark be allocated $250.00 for the printing of the postcards. The motion carried.
Kim reported on the show for Gallery 57. The display will run through the month of December. Drop off the matted and framed pictures the week of November 11-26 at the gallery. If anyone can help with hanging the pictures, please come to the gallery on Friday November 30. The opening reception will be Saturday Dec. 1. We have been asked to bring food for the opening reception. They will provide the drinks, etc. The gallery would also like help with the advertising. The owner has requested that we chip in $200 in order to advertise in the Coastal Journal. Discussion followed whether this was the best publication in which to advertise. Ron Blanchard volunteered to pursue other possibilities. The gallery would like some black and white pictures as well as color.
The pictures need to be priced and the gallery will take a 50% commission. The pictures will need to be picked up from the gallery on Monday Jan. 7, 2008.
Diana gave a report on the project at Brookgreen to have a Certified Backyard Wildlife Habitat. Diana passed out Brookgreen Volunteer Forms and Volunteer Emergency Forms for those volunteering to help with this project. Work will begin on Saturday, October 27, at 9:30. Be at the zoo by 9:30. The group will clean out the old birdhouses.
Discussion followed about helping with the photography classes being taught at Waccamaw High School by Marty Trifiletti. Mark has already been helping with the classes. They need help with cameras and equipment for the classes.
It was announced that our own Diana Johnson won best in the show for her picture at the recent Outer Banks CNPA outing. Congratulations to Diana.
A committee was set up to plan outings for our group. Members of that committee are Mark Hilliard, Ron Blanchard, and Pat Schirtzinger.
It was decided that our next outing for November 17 will be to the Animal Sanctuary in Georgetown. Arrangements will follow later.
Frank Perrotta shared with us his favorite spot to photograph. He had brought several matted pictures of spots on Pawleys Island.
