View Full Version : Sunken Shrimp Boat in Infrared
This Infrared image is one from the our Outer Banks trip. On my way there I came down 264 and stopped at EVERY little port town along the way to shoot the shrimpers.

Mark, very nice shot. I can see why you're excited about infrared. What's your opinion how it does when printed as compared to standard b&w?

Classy shot for sure. I know that Casey and you are taking infrareds. Wonder how many other folks into this with camera modification. Guess you can do infra red effects in Photoshop without doing the camera modifications that limit that camera to only infra red???? Am I correct with this? Thanks

I heard the Doug H. may be converting a body to infrared.
You can simulate Infrared in Photoshop and there are plugin filters that one can purchase. In fact I had one, but NOTHING comes close to the real thing. I had been wanting to do this for years but never did. When I purchased the Canon 5D for landscapes I actually grew to hate the camera due to its limitations and lack of control when compaired to my MK2 and MK3 so rather than sell it I sent it of and had the comversion done. I chose the pure IR conversion so the camera can do nothing but that now. I find that I actually carry the camera with a 16-40L lens on it with me all of the time! I look at EVERYTHING with an eye for infrared now. I have only had the camera body for about a month so I am still in the learning stages but it was well worth the conversion costs plus the loss of an expensive color body.
There are several secrets to good IR photography and I am learning each and every day to create striking and unusual images using it. The prints are stunning, MUCH better than just plain B&W and now I am printing on a satin finished metal sheets which have to be seen to be believed.

Your infrared work is really inspiring. If I ever get a spare body I may have to give it a go. Beautiful image, keep up the good work! :)
