Bill Edmonds, Outing Chair, informed members about upcoming outings to Portsmouth Island and Chincoteague. The Portsmouth Island/Ocracoke trip is scheduled for October 23-24 with 10 rooms blocked out for a rate of $79.00/night at the Anchorage Inn in Ocracoke. A boat service is being explored to transport members from Ocracoke to Portsmouth Island as well as use of ATV tours or drop off. A headcount of members interested in attending will need to be collected to determine the rate that the boat service will charge. Also, 10 rooms have been blocked out at the Refuge Inn in Chincoteague, Virginia for the rate of $92/night. The Chincoteague trip is scheduled for Nov 20 and 21 and will coincide with the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge's Waterfowl Week in which the wildlife loop will be open to vehicular traffic from 9am to dusk. Also, on this weekend there is usually a large amount of snow geese arriving at Chincoteague NWR. April 11thouting to Carova will be led by Jared Lloyd. An email will be sent this week with details for the Carova outing.
The OBX Region Quarterly Photo Contest guidelines were handed out to those present at the meeting and were discussed. Basic guidelines include 2 images per member, images have to be sized to 1024 px on the longest side, 72 dpi, sRGB and in JPEG format. The contest images will be submitted to Co-Coordinator, Lori A. Cash with a deadline one week before the meeting in which the quarterly contest will be held. Basic darkroom techniques are accepted and include adjustments to color, contrast, brightness and sharpness, removal of dust and scratches, HDR images, dodging, burning and cropping.
