I received this from another group I am involved with and thought there might be some folks with an interest in this:
We are very pleased to announce special guest David Hobby, creator of
Strobist.com, at the Studio at 623 S. Cedar Street, Friday November 9. The festivities begin
at 6:30 pm with a meet and greet, followed by a short presentation by David Hobby, and
more merriment to follow.
Strobist.com is a blog devoted to the study and sharing of creative
photographic lighting ideas - achieving elegant results with ordinary household objects and low-tech
solutions. David infuses his postings (teachable moments) with a tremendous but dry sense of humor.
From his bio, David "...freelanced way through University of Fla -- left UF in 1988 with only
a state and local gov class and about $300.00 in (newsphoto-related)
parking tickets standing between him and a BS degree. David worked for 19 years as a staff
photojournalist at two newspapers: Patuxent Publishing in Maryland for 11 and for the past eight years
at the Baltimore Sun. He started Strobist.com in April 2006. In just over a year, it is read
by 150,000 photographers from 175 countries. On a typical day, he is just as likely as not to be
working in pajamas."
Please plan on joining us on this special evening Friday November 9 from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm.
623 S. Cedar Street, Charlotte. Please park on Cedar Street and walk to the studio.
Admission $5 at the door, appetizers and drinks will be served.
Please RSVP Nanine Hartzenbusch at <mailto:nanine@naninephoto.com> nanine@naninephoto.com
