CNPA Charlotte Region Meeting
Wednesday, October 10

This October, we will again feature another Image Critiques session. This is always a popular evening and we are looking forward to another group of great images and tips from our critiquers, Kelly Culpepper, Charles Johnson, and Gary Kerr. Please note that there is no theme this month. As we have done in the past, there is a limit of 3 images per person (and even with this limit, it may not be possible to critique all submitted images depending on the number of entries). You are encouraged to provide digital images in advance to John Schornak (jschornak@ci.charlotte.nc.us) or Debra Dandro (debra.dandro@earthlink.net) by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9. Name your images using the format of #yourname.jpg where # is the number 1, 2, or 3 and designates the priority of your images for critique. All #1 images will be critiqued first, and so on. Also, size your photos so that the long side is no more than 1024 pixels. If you choose to bring prints, please limit yourself to 3 prints with a minimum size of 8x10 and maximum size of 24x28, including the mat.

Brevard Area Waterfalls & Fall Color

This is just basic info - I don't have the "schedule" finished yet, but am still trying to decide which waterfalls we will and will not be able to visit. The plan is to visit easily accessible sites, so there will not be any long or strenuous hikes. Waterfalls and hopefully some fall color are the primary subjects we'll be photographing, but I'm not planning a rigid schedule so that we will be able to stop at sites we find along the way that others may find of interest to photograph and so that we can enjoy our time being in the mountains without feeling rushed to get from one site to the next.
As far as meals go we will be visiting a Chinese buffet restaurant Friday evening, but where we stop for the other meals will be dependent on our schedule and where we're at. I am thinking that we'll be able to plan on lunch in the Highlands/Cashiers area on Saturday since that will be on our furthest venture from Brevard. I would suggest that others bring snacks along during the day should they get hungry between meals.
Accommodations: I and the others I have spoken to have reservations at Hampton Inn Brevard from Friday, October 12, to Sunday, October 14. I got the best rates from Travelocity.com. Here's the address. Directions can be found at mapquest.com.
