Roll Call for John Shaw Seminar in Raleigh Feb 7-8

I know of a few members who are planning to attend the John Shaw Nature & Digital Photography Seminar (http://www.photosafaris.com/Tours_2009/JohnShawSeminars/JohnShawSeminars.asp) in Raleigh the weekend of Feb 7-8 and wanted to start a thread for those who are attending so we might coordinate dinners and perhaps transportation.

For now please just reply if you are going and I'll keep the list updated. Depending on interest we can use this forum for additional communications.

Just wanted to let you know that, as Tom said, I am going to the seminar. In addition, I wanted to confirm that I am planning on going up Friday and coming back on Sunday. Thanks for starting the thread and hopefully there will be others attending from our region. :)DJGD

Yay! I'm glad to hear we have a few more participants. We've been talking offline about doing dinner Friday and Saturday. I've suggested a place called Tavola Rossa (http://www.tavolarossa.com/) - which is near the mall and the Marriott - for one night. If our Raleigh member has a recommendation for another place in the area I'd love to hear it!

Let me know your interest in Friday dinner at Tavola Rossa and I'll make reservations there.

I'm not usually known as being a leader of the "Restauranteers" but I guess I'm self-appointed for this trip. If we were out shooting someone else would have to be in charge!

I haven't heard any objections to Tavola Rossa (http://www.tavolarossa.com/) for Friday night, so let's plan on that. I'll assume everyone on the "attendees" list is going unless I hear otherwise.

I also had a suggestion for The Angus Barn (http://www.angusbarn.com/) for Saturday. Let me know how that looks. I'm guessing we may pick up some extra attendees for that so I won't try to make any reservations until we can nail down a number on Saturday.

Hey Tom! My apologies for not responding sooner. I have to work all day Friday and then have to make arrangements for our dog, Airy, so I may be pretty late getting up there. I've made a reservation for six of us at Tavola Rossa for 7:00 on Friday. Let's plan to meet in the hotel lobby at 6:45. It's only about a 5-minute drive and if I recall correctly there is plenty of parking.

Debra - If your plans change give me a call and I'll update our reservation.

Thanks for making the reservation Tom. I will see you in the lobby at 6:45. I am planning on getting into Raleigh around mid day and roaming over the NCSU campus a bit. It has been almost 30 years since I was there. Should be some memories of my college days come back.

Hello All,
This has been a good weekend with John Shaw. We were very successful in promoting the CNPA and Annual Meeting next month. We had brochures and cards to hand out as we networked with the other attendees and Gary with Hunts Photo allowed us to place CNPA literature on his table. I am still amazed at the people who are nature photo enthusiasts in our midst are not aware of CNPA. Our meeting this week in Charlotte should have a couple of new potential members as a result.

And we ate well too, The Agnus Barn and Tavola Rossa were excellent dining experiences.
