Hi!
Does anyone know when the Monarch Butterflies will be in the Asheville area ... and ... is there a great place to see (and photograph) them?
Thanks!

I was at the Hawk Count at Caesar's Head State Park, SC last week. Along the way, there is a restaurant called Pumpkintown Mountain. They have loads of Lantana bushes in front of the building. I spent nearly two hours photographing hundreds of monarchs that were covering the bushes. I am sure there are still plenty there. Give them a call. Their website is at www.pumpkintownmountain.com. It is not very far from Asheville. Happy shooting!

Can't vouch for it personally, but here is an article about Monarch migration observation at a site on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Sounds like a few fly-bys?

Thanks to both of you for the information. Hopefully I'll get to those spots in the coming week ... and with any luck ... get some good shots. Thanks, again!
