Lenoir and Forest City Area Info on the Convention
March 12 - 15 is the CNPA Annual Convention in Charlotte. From your CNPA 2009 Handbook Edition or online you will find details about the meeting. Members from the Carolina's and out of state members come. The two conventions I have attended have been very informative, and recommend it highly. Frans Lanting is the main speaker, and will be presenting all day Sat. That is like a full day workshop from one of the WORLD's best. He is a monthly contributor to Outdoor Photographer magazine if you are not familuar with his work.
The convention is basically an instructional convention, not a photo outing. There are two outings planned if you wish to sign up.
The convention also has a catagoried Member's Choice photo contest of members work. Winner from last years convention are in you 2009 Handbook. The paper inset in you Handbook has info about the photo contest on the back of the first page. More about the contest can be found on the website. The guidlines have been revised from last year, so review them carefully
One very important note about mounting- attach the print to the foamcore with the most permanant material possible. Clear Scotch does not work -heat from the display lights softens it and the prints drop off. Everyone at the convention gets a voting card, so your vote counts.
Exhibitors also display during the convention. Nikon, Canon, photo papers, printers, product marketers have been among the exhibitors. They do have materials for sale at convention prices. They demo eguipment as well. The exhibitors are all great and willing to talk to you [it maybe crowded, but wait your turn and they get to you].
CNPA also has had clothing you can order before the convention. It is then given to you at registration [if I remember correctly - I'll check on that].
