I realize this is not the best of images but it was shot from my living room through the back and storm door. It appeared in my back yard the other day and I just happen to have my camera in the house.

What kind of bird is it? The colors are good, and if you have any more of these I would like to see them. It is a good shot for being shot through a storm door.

It's a lovebird, they come in so many colors. Here is a link to an image that looks like Doug's visitor.

BTW Doug, not sure if I would recommend a trip to BlackJacks. We saw spiders, a turtle, a few flowers and a running deer. If we hadn't run across the bow hunter we might still be there trying to find the car. Take a GPS if you go, I left mine in the car.

So pardon my ignorance, but is this a wild bird or an escaped cage bird?

As is Bruce I am curious about if this is a wild bird or more likely a pet that escaped?

All lovebirds are native to Africa except the Grey-headed lovebird which comes from the island of Madagascar. This would be someone's escaped pet.

Doug, you shouldn't have told about through-the-doors and just let everyone think their eyesight was failing!:D

Pretty neat. Glad you got to see him & get a picture. A couple of months ago, I looked out & there was a budgerigar sitting above one of our feeders with a bunch of goldfinches. He ended up being tame enough that I have him in a cage here at home (STILL waiting to find his previous owner!).

Here is a picture from before his capture...
