December Outing

The December Outing will be on the morning of Saturday, the 6th, for sunrise and bird photography.

We will meet at the Pea Island NWR visitor center parking lot at 6:15am (sunrise is at 7:02am) and shoot until the lighting gets harsh. Afterward, for those interested, we can grab coffee or lunch.

In January we will have a Region meeting to discuss outings and meetings for 2009. Details tba.

I have just joined the CPNA and I hope I can make it to this outing. I am not sure where the visitors center is.

If you head over to Pea Island which is the entire North end of Hatteras Island just drive south a few miles and you will see a pull off on the right with a sign that says visitor center and public restrooms. Just head south, you cant miss it. If you make it to Rodanthe, turn around.

Sorry, I forgot to include directions for our Dec 6th outing to Pea Island NWR. For those who may not know where Pea Island NWR visitor center is:

At Nags Head you will see signs for Hatteras Island, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and NC 12 south. Turn south at the traffic light onto NC 12 south. Almost immediately you will pass through another traffic light and will now be on NC 12 south. Follow NC 12 south for approximately 8 miles. Cross the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge across Oregon Inlet. On the south side of the bridge you will see the refuge entrance sign on your right. Approximately 4 miles south on the right is the Visitor’s Center (approximately at Mile Post 31).
