So when do we get a regional website as well? Seems like there is a lot of potential in having an Outer Banks chapter to CNPA but we arent taking advantage of that. IF those in charge of putting a website up, and organizing this chapter, do not have the time to work on this sort of stuff, maybe some of the responsibility could be delegated out to those folks who do.

Mark,
I just checked it seems that there are only 2 regions without a site and one of them is ours.
I'm sure with a little communication we can put something up for our area
Let me know if you need some help I'll do want I can

If I can help, I will. I'm more of an html person than a control panel interface person, but it can't be much different from other sorts of interfaces I have to use now and then.

Looks as though there are at least three folks willing to work on this project so as to see the chapter get off the ground.

The template for the website has been built. I have asked that Mark as regional coordinator be the one that feeds me the information and images. I'll send him an email and let him know about this interest to move forward with the website.
First thing I need is a banner image that represents the region [64 x 608 pixels] and a cover image [580 pixels on the longest side].
Get with Mark and let's get this thing going!!!

Happy THANKSGIVING to everyone.
I've just did a head count on all the regions and it appears to be that we are the smallest group of listed members. I guess if we are going to move forward we need to establish just who in our group is in and who is not!!!
I haven't been a member very long so I'm not sure who is using this site other than Jared and Fred who I guess is in our region. Any way if you are checking in from time to time let's see what we can do to grow this thing.

In regards to growing this thing, one idea might be to have outings or get togethers once a month or something. I come across other photographers out on the beach - and especially over on the mainland. I tell them about CNPA but no one every joins. We should ask ourselves why that is. . . really if your in the Outer Banks chapter, the only thing you get out of it is the use of the forums - which there is no lack of photography forums on the internet these days.
I look around at the other regions and they are actively involving their members. Outings, meetings, get togethers. Its more of a community of photographers. Doing things like this I feel would not only be alot of fun for us, but might help bring new members in when they see that they can personally bennefit from membership.
I propose that we go ahead and have a get together. Maybe a shoot and then a couple of beers afterwards to talk about all of this. Mark had mentioned - several months ago - that he was going to be posting an upcoming chapter outing, but that never happend. But hey, one person shouldnt have to take on all of the responsibility by themselves.
Of course there is the mid year outing in late January.... but lets do something for the OBX chapter before that ..... say between Thanksgiving and Xmas. With all the birds around, I'm thinking geese in Pea Island or Swans/ducks in Mattamsukeet. IF people that wanted to be involved didnt have the equipment for this, we could always hit up the wild horses in Carova. I believe I could get a hold of a suburban for a day to bring everyone up in.
What do y'all think?

That's sort of the ideas I was having, Maybe shooting a theme or what ever is on our minds. Has anyone heard from Mark?? It sounds like Robert has put him in control.

Hey All,
I appreciate all of the interest in helping get things off of the ground. Admittedly, I am struggling a little bit (ok...a lot) with the time necessary to move things with the OBX region. At the CNPA board meeting last week I proposed that the region take on a co-coordinator and that should happen soon once I follow up with a couple of people in the region.
It certainly sounds like we have a couple of people that would like to help with the website. That would be great!! forward me any information and I will pass it along. I am happy to have someone oversee the website and its content.
I agree that we need to be doing something monthly. At the first meeting we had over the summer everyone that attended thought that it would be best to start off by doing some regular outings in the area and move forward from there.
I'm sorry that things have been a little slow in developing here. Some assistance will be greatly appreciated and is what I really need to get things going. There is a lot of potential in this region to have an active membership.

Mark Buckler is your regional coordinator. Each region is run by one or more coordinators and these are appointed by the CNPA Board of Directors. Mark has since been elected to also serve on the board, which is a good thing for OBX.

Nice to hear from you Mark, maybe if you can make up a list of things you need we can divide them up according to every ones skill level. Or whatever you need for help. Just let me know I'd be more than willing to give you a hand.

Mark,
yeah I assumed that you were just too busy over there at the OBCWE an all. Like Jay said, just let us know the things that need to be done to get this ball rolling and we can divy up the responsibilities.
Personally, as I noted before, I think that going ahead and putting together a shoot/get together in the next couple of weeks would be a great start.

Hello all...
After a series of computer glitches, (now over a month long), I am FINALLY back up and running. I've been reading these posts and agree that more activity would be good and I'll be willing to help the process. I'm planning to be at the shoot on 6 Dec as well so I'll see some of you there!
