Month of NOVEMBER 2008

It is time to pick up your photos on or after Wednesday November 26th.
Due to renovations in the lobby / exhibit area occurring after Thanksgiving it was decided to take the photos down 3 days early. They are taking up the carpet in the hallways on Friday 11-28.

Please call me to schedule your pickup. The front desk must be expecting you for access. If you need to come in the evening that can be arrranged also. The exhibit was well received, however I am not sure if any sales resulted.

Starting Wednesday 10-22-2008 photos may be dropped off at the WSOC TV Studios for our last week of October through the end of November exhibit. You can leave your ready to hang photos at the front desk.

This is if you cannot be here to help hang the exhibit on Friday evening, 10-24-08 between 6:30 and 7:30 PM. If you plan on coming on Friday I have arranged for parking in the front of the station. You can call my station phone or cell with questions. Cell 412/720-1702

If your photo is for sale please specify the price on the card affixed to the back with your name and contact information, telephone number. I will number the prints and have a single card with the photographers name and price if for sale linked to the numbers.

Hope to see lots of you folks here. Once the prints are up if anyone is interested in seeing behind the scenes of a top 25 market television station I can arrange a quick tour.

New Information The WSOC Gallery space will be avaiable one week earlier so we will have 5 weeks of exposure in the venue. Photos can be hung as early as Friday October 24 th. If there is interest we could hang the exhibit on Friday evening the 24th after 7:00 PM. We can discuss this further at the meeting tomorrow night. The Carolina Baloon Festival in Statesville is happening over this weekend and I would like to shoot it on Saturday afternoon and Sunday AM.
We have the gallery space at WSOC/WAXN TV studios reserved for our member’s display of prints for the month of November. Located at 1901 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28206 the station is approximately 1 mile north of downtown directly across from the Amtrak Station. Last year the exhibit was well received and a few of the members sold their prints. We need to hang the exhibit on November 1 sometime in the afternoon. As the time draws closer we can see what time is best for the majority. The exhibit needs to come down on Saturday the 27th. Or Sunday the 28th.

Photos must be framed and ready to hang with a wire across the back for a wall hook. Sizes acceptable range from 8X10 to 20X24. Your name and contact information needs to be on a card affixed to the back of the photo.

Depending on interest level from the members there will be a limit of 1 to 3 prints per member. The space allows for upwards of 50 prints in the 11X14 size. If there are many large prints the number will scale back accordingly.

Volunteers’ are needed to assist in hanging the exhibit. If you are unavailable on Saturday the 1st. Your photos can be dropped off at the front desk of the station during normal business hours the Thursday and Friday prior.

Nature, Landscape and wildlife photos only please. Use the same criteria as the CNPA member’s gallery postings.

I'll commit to two prints in the 13x19 range. I have a set of 6 13x19s already framed, so I can provide a few more if there's room. I may decide to make some new prints, and if I do I may vary the size a little, but no larger than 16x20 or smaller than 11x17.

Thanks for organizing this show. I've not participated in the past but am looking forward to this one.

Looks like you have enough participation to fill the walls and I am really pushed this week. If you really need another couple of prints (or one), let me know, otherwise I will sit this one out. I am sending you an email re: your Meck Parks prints, look for it!!

Edgar, as I said in my earlier email, I will be there to help out hanging the pictures, as well as my husband. I will be bringing 2 pictures. Regarding framing, any particular type of frame? See you there.

Hello Midge,

Any style of frame is acceptable providing it has a wire across the back for hanging. Frames and matting options have been varied in the past. I am sure we will have a variety of styles. My photos will be in border less clip frames.

Don't forget to have your name and phone number on the back of the framed photo as well as the price if it is for sale.

We already have over a dozen prints dropped off. Ann can bring them if that is better for you, Also at the last minute the size rules have been relaxed to allow panos, something I had not considered prior.

Hello All,
The exhibit is up with 30 prints. There is room for a few more members to exhibit. I would like to see a few more prints up. I realize it is up a week earlier than initally planned and some of you may not be ready yet. If anyone wishes to add to the display or just come by to see our members work just give me a call if you wish to come by after hours on a weeknight. If it is 9-5 during the week just drop by the studio and say you want to see the photos on display.

Hello All:
The exhibit is up and looks good. Russ will be dropping off some final prints on Monday to round out the display. I was informed yesterday due to changes in security at the station, visitors are not permitted at random. Meaning if you want to come and see the exhibit, you must have an appointment. This is not an issue if you can visit Monday thru Friday in the late afternoons til evening. You need to call and make an appointment with me and I will see you get in OK. You need to call me at work between 3:30PM until 11:30PM and we can schedule a time. You can call my cell at other times to coordinate when would be good. Sorry for the hassle but it is out of my control.

I just went and picked up my photos along with Marsha Wright's last night. Thank you so much Edgar for organizing this exhibit! It looked great and was well received!

Sorry to be slow on the draw.

Yes, thanks for everything. It was a good experience for me. I haven't really printed and framed any of my images in the past. It forced me to work through the process. It gave me some insight towards the options on mats, printing, framing, cost and the like. Now, if I could only learn which end of the camera to use.

Lastly, as you know, my prints remain ophans in the halls (or, maybe the closet :) ) of WSOC. Sorry for the delayed response. May I pick up the prints this week?

Hi Scott and all others with prints still at WSOC. The front desk has your name on a list and is expecting you to pick up your prints ASAP. There is construction underway in the area and it has been dusty due to flooring work in the halls. Call me if you have any questions about coming after hours. Past 5:00 PM. I will be off on Thursday and Friday this week for the Cade's Cove outing.
