Great shot Don, a very nice female Ruby-throated Hummingbird. I wish we had more than the one variety of hummingbird east of the Mississippi as a resident. I would love to see the occasional visitor from the west or south of us. It doesn't hardly seem fair that we only have one and they have so many.:(

The Ruby Throated Hummingbird is the only variety that I have observed here, though I have heard of an occasional sighting of the Rufus Hummingbird.

From my previous observations, the males will start leaving somewhere around September 15 and the females will have migrated south by October.
