MINUTES FOR AUGUST 17, 2008
CAROLINA NATURE PHOTOGRAPHERS ASSOCIATION
MYRTLE BEACH REGION

The meeting was called to order by Kim Jones. Eighteen members were in attendance. Kim Jones gave the treasurer’s report for Jim Braxmeier – no Change in the balance from July.


Kim was asked by Bill Jordan to remind the group of the classes he is teaching at the Waccamaw /CCU location.


Each Committee gave a brief report:

Evert Baird reported on the Outings Committee. September planned outing is to Huntington Beach State Park and Brookgreen Gardens on September 20th. An email will be sent to members to determine level of interest for an overnight October trip to the Outer Banks. A couple of other suggestions for outings – Riverbanks Zoo, North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro and Charlestown Landing.

Bonnie Eaglin gave a report on the Programs/Education committee detailing programs planned for the next six months. September will be Frank Perrotti reviewing new equipment/lenses. In October Joylyn will cover portrait photography/composition. November 8th & 9th – Mark will be conducting the two-day photoshop course at the Waccamaw Center; (Kim has been in contact with Linda Ketron to determine the cost of renting the computer lab for those 2 days. Members may not register until after the workshop has been entered into their system. They will sent an e-mail stating when and where to call to register. Final cost still to be determined). December14 will be the holiday get together.

Events Committee – Frank and Liza gave a brief summary of attempts to find new locations where pictures can be exhibited and sold. Frank attempted to contact several businesses at Market Common with no interest. Mark Hilliard suggested we contact the Rice Museum Gallery again since we have a pre-existing, positive relationship with them. Someone also mention Hobcaw Barony’s new visitor center. At the next meeting Ron will give information about joining the Georgetown Co. Cultural Council and Liza should have more info about exhibiting at area libraries, CCU and Horry Georgetown Tech.

The business meeting was closed and The Eaglins gave an informative program on their Photographic Expedition to Costa Rica. After the meeting, members shared photographs taken on previous outings.


Our next meeting will be at Mark and Sean’s gallery on September 21st.
