The Wildlife Loop is a 3 1/4 mile loop around a moist soil management unit and is a great place to observe wildlife, especially waterfowl and wading birds. It is always open to walkers and bikers but vehicles are only permitted to drive on it from 3:00 P.M. till dusk.

I am wondering how many participants will be driving SUVs or other suitable vehicles for the Wildlife Loop. Could you please let me know how many vehicles are Wildlife Loop capable and maybe we can schedule a Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon outing where everyone can be accommodated.

Some of you may have met Jennifer Carroll at the meeting this week. I received today a very good suggestions from her for our Chincoteague trip. Rather than try to paraphrase I will just copy the text of her email.

"Hey Don,
Due to the ever increasing cost of fuel, are we going to make an organized effort to carpool for this trip? If so, I have an offer for everyone to think about. We will be taking the truck...a Dodge Ram 2500...with a camper top. There will be plenty of room to stow baggage for anyone/everyone interested. While we can only transport 2 people, I figure that if we carried all the suitcases, there would be more room for people and their camera equipment in fewer vehicles. Like I said, something to think about! Thanks!

Jennifer N. Taylor (aka Jennifer Carroll on CNPA)"

What do you think...Any takers?

Jennifer,

I have done the checking and we will have no problems with camping on this trip. I prefer Pine Grove Campground which isn't too far from the hotel everyone is staying at. They raise waterfowl and other animals and have several ponds which will make for some good picture opportunities. The time of year we will be there it is not crowded so we do not need reservations.

Here is the information:
Tent site: $29 per night (One tent per site and one car)
RV (w/water, elec, sewage): $38 per night
RV (w/water, elec): $34 per night.

firewood is $3.68 including tax and ice is $1.75.

Let me know if this works for you. Anyone else want to join us?

Have a great day!
Dawnita

Sounds good to me! Thanks for doing the research. IF husband goes, he'll want electricity, so I"m glad to see that option. :)

I posted this on John's recent post, but thought I should add it here too.

Add me to the...

"Chincoteague Island (VA)
November 7-10, 2008 (FUTURE DATE)

I will miss the friday (Nov 7). I plan to arrive on Nov 8th (Sat) and leave on Nov. 15th (the next Saturday).

This is all dependent on if I can hold the vacation I have left that long."
